Lodestar Media Group produces stories that sit at the intersection of deep reporting, cinematic craft, and genuine moral urgency. We are not interested in the stories that come easily.
Eric Lodal is a writer, producer, and director working across television, film, and the operatic stage. With a B.A. in economics and music from Yale University and a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, he brings a composer's ear and a dramatist's instinct to a broad array of work.
Collaborations span film, music, television, and politics. He co-created Murder in the First for TNT with Steven Bochco and developed original projects at Warner Brothers, FX, Sony, Fox, and New Regency. He has been a regular guest lecturer on storytelling and narrative at Yale, and served on numerous boards and political campaigns nationwide.
At Lodestar, that commitment has a single focus: stories that hold their shape for decades.
Our Approach
Documentary work runs on relationships, and relationships run on time. We don't arrive with a shot list. We earn whatever the story requires.
A documentary is not a report with footage. It's a story — which means it needs a spine, something at stake. That structure is the first thing we build and the last thing we compromise.
The stories worth making still matter ten years out. We're not optimizing for a premiere. We're building something that holds.
